I.Application for Foreigner's Work Permit and Residence Permit
I.1.Registration of Temporary Residence
According to the“Rules Governing the Implementation of the Law of the PRC on the entry and Exit of Aliens”, foreigners must process the registration of temporary residence after arrival:
Foreigners should complete their residence registration within 24 hours after entry into China in the local police station.(Those who live in hotels which may help with such connection can do the registration at the hotels.)

I.2.Physical Examination
The physical examination, if has been taken in your home country, the health report should be brought to Qinghai Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau(青海出入境检验检疫局)to verify. If not be taken, then the PE should be done within 7 days after entry. Please bring the documents listed below to do the examination in the morning on an empty stomach.The School shall provide assistance when necessary. The examination report can be obtained within three weekdays.

I.3.Foreigner's Work Permit
Please prepare documents listed below and submit them to your School. Staff in your School shall assist you to get the Foreigner’s Work Permit.

1.4 Application for the Residence Permit
The Residence Permit should be applied from the Xining Entry-Exit Administration within 30 days after entry. Please prepare documents listed below. Staff from FAO shall assist you to get the Residence Permit.

What is residence permit for foreigners? What should I pay attention to in this regard?（For Foreign Students）
Residence Permit for Foreigner in the People’s Republic of China is issued to foreigners residing in the People’s Republic of China for more than one year. International students with X1 visa must change it to residence permit within 30 days upon the date of entry. The permit shall be applied for to the Exit-Entry Administration of the Public Security Bureau of his/her place of residence. For details, please refer to Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of Entry and Exit of Foreigners and the relevant provisions promulgated by the local Exit-and-Entry Administration.
You may need to pay attention to:
When applying for residence permit, you need to submit Certificate on Verification of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners issued by the local inspection and quarantine department. Therefore, please complete the medical examination as soon as possible after entering the country and bring the necessary materials to the local Exit-Entry Administration Bureau.
The police station needs to check your original passport when handling your application for residence permit. At the same time, some other procedures may also require your original passport, such as applying for bank cards and mobile phone/Internet access. Therefore, please make relevant arrangement in advance.
