In the afternoon of July 14, 2015, a New Zealand government delegation led by Bill English, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of New Zealand Treasury, visited Qinghai University. The delegation was accompanied by Gabs Makhlouf, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Minister of New Zealand Treasury, and Roger Smith, Deputy Minister Counsellor of the New Zealand Embassy in China. Mrs. Cheng Lihua, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Qinghai Province, Mr. Chao Haijun, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Qinghai Province, and officials from the Department of Finance of Qinghai Province, Qinghai Education Department, and Foreign Affairs Office of Qinghai Province, Mr. Yu Hongxian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Qinghai University and other leaders accompanied the delegation during the visit and introduced the university.
The delegation visited the exhibition of cooperation results among Qinghai University, the University of Auckland and the University of Lincoln, the exhibition of school history, Three-River-Source and ecological talent training base. Both sides talked about the fruitful exchanges and cooperation between Qinghai University and the University of Auckland and the University of Lincoln in the past ten years in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, and exchanged views on topics of common interest. During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Bill English also met with over ten teachers who had furthered their studies at the University of Auckland, and encouraged them to make more contributions to the friendship, scientific and cultural exchanges between the two countries, the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and New Zealand universities.
