From June 3 to 4, at the 4th Asia Pacific Society for Medical Mycology Congress and the 37th Annual Scientific Meeting of Japanese Society of Mountain Medicine in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, Professor Yang Yingzhong from Medical College of Qinghai University gave a highly recognized academic presentation and won the "Excellence Award" as one of the three winners. During the 2-day congress, more than 120 experts and scholars from the United States, India, Nepal, Ukraine, China, and other countries, as well as Japan, discussed in-depth the highland medicine research. Prof. Yang Yingzhong gave a lecture entitled "Preliminary Study on Screening Plateau Pulmonary Edema Susceptibility Genes Based on Genome-Wide Association Study and Whole-exome Sequencing", which presented some of the latest research results obtained by the plateau medicine research team of Qinghai University. In the meantime, seven faculty members and two students from the Medical College participated in the congress and made presentations.
The Asia Pacific Society for Medical Mycology Congress has been held every two years since 2008. This year, it aims to build a platform for academic and technical exchanges among scientists and research institutions engaged in plateau medicine research in the Asia Pacific region. The Congress focuses on hypoxia, plateau adaptation, plateau training, plateau first aid treatment, plateau diseases, and the exchange of the latest advances and methods in physiology, pathophysiology, genetics, genomics, proteomics, etc. In addition, experts and scholars discussed the latest research progress in the fields of plateau customs and maladaptation, plateau sports health care and adventure medical aid, translational medicine, diagnosis and treatment of plateau diseases, Chinese and Tibetan medicine interventions for plateau diseases.
