In the afternoon of July 9, the closing ceremony of the 5th Youth Innovation Competition on Lantsang-Mekong Region's Governance and Development was successfully held online as scheduled, hosted by Su Changhe, Dean of School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University. Professor Ren Yanming, Vice Principal and member of the Standing Committee of the Communist party of Qinghai University, Xu Jin, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Han Lei, Officer of the Youth League Committee, and Xu Chunjing, Teacher of the Elementary Course Teaching Research Department, attended the online DingTalk meeting.
At the beginning, Yin Dongmei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University, gave a speech summarizing the competition while Professor Ren Yanming, Vice Principal and member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Qinghai University, delivered a speech on behalf of the international organizing committee of the competition. He expressed his sincere hope that the youths from six countries in the Lantsang-Mekong Region should take this online competition as a new starting point to deepen their contacts, exchanges and interactions in the fields of culture, education, to write a youthful chapter of mutually beneficial cooperation and win-win cooperation, and to enhance the well-being of all peoples, so that the profound and heartfelt friendship built among the Mekong countries could be passed down from generation to generation, and the jointly constructed relationship in the Lantsang-Mekong Region would be more stable and stand forever. It was reported that the final of YICMG2021 would be held from July 7 to 9 on the "DingTalk" online platform. A total of 63 student works were received from 8 universities in China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand, and a total of 51 players in 17 teams were selected to compete in the final. In the afternoon of the 7th, the youths from six countries formally entered the finalists' proposal presentation session and completed the project defense and exchange. In the evening of the same day, several multinational teams were formed among youths so as to participat in the special session of the competition, "Lantsang-Mekong Café", where experts gave professional advice and guidance to the multinational teams so that they can further improve the projects. The final awards included "Most Valuable Problem", "Most Creative Team", "Best Multinational Team" and "Best Incubation Plan". In favor of the general public, students from Qinghai University won three of the awards during the three-day competition.

This is the first time that the YICMG competition is held through an online platform, which means that new forms of communication and cooperation based on the Internet are gradually taking shape. Through Internet technology, the competition will continue to enhance the humanities exchanges among youths from the six countries, promote cooperation in online education, academic research, youth innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities of the six countries, and cultivate elite talents that can govern the Lantsang-Mekong region in the future.
